New home showing guidelines to help protect everyone
We are all learning to navigate a new way of life during ‘COVID Times’. From homeschooling our kids (CRAZY!), to learning the ins and outs of zoom meetings, life as we once knew it seems to be fading fast. As much as things are changing, some things from the ‘before times’ remain. Home buying and home selling are two of those things.
Maybe with all this time at home you’re quickly realizing you’re outgrowing your current space, or perhaps your space has outgrown your current needs and downsizing is your goal. You may finally want to make the leap from the city to the suburbs to get more square footage for your dollar – or to finally have an outdoor space that you don’t have to share with the rest of the community. Whatever the reason may be, these normal triggers for entering the home buying market still exist and therefore we must learn to work through the process with some new guidelines in place. Because if one thing is true, houses are still being listed and sold during this pandemic.
Here are some of the Home Showing Guidelines we Realtors are taking to ensure the safety of everyone:
Cover your Face: This is a very simple step to ensure the virus doesn’t spread. State and local ordinances require face coverings to be worn. So mask up!
Wash Your Hands: Wash your hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer before and after viewing the property.
Cover or Remove Shoes: This prevents tracking of germs and benefits you and the home seller.
Look, but Don’t Touch: Please avoid touching surfaces and items in the home. Restroom use is not allowed during this time.
Limit Your Visit: As much as we’d love to hang out all day, limiting your time within the property protects everyone.
Social Distance: Please remain a 6 foot distance from others at all times.
Be Well: This is possibly the most important guideline of all. Please do not tour a home if you are ill or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have traveled to/from an area with high community spread, have been advised to self-quarantine, or have been diagnosed or in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19.
