I am honored to share that Beth Seibert and I have been nominated for the Charitable Service Award! Why, you might ask. Well, back in the spring, at the height of uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, we organized and led the Meal for Heroes campaign.
We delivered over 325 meals to Northwestern Medicine, Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, thank to an outpouring of support from the community. We purchased meals at a discounted rate, in partnership with Bon Appetit Management Company, the food service provider for Wheaton College. The meals consisted of a salad, fully cooked entrée and dessert that serves up to 6 people. These meals were given out to Central DuPage Hospital employees, nurses and doctors when their shift ended so that they could bring dinner home – perfect for feeding the family or for packing lunches throughout the work week. What started as a fundraiser within our office grew tremendously, and with personal donations and GoFundMe, we were able to raise over $6,400!
These frontline workers risked their lives, day in and day out, to help take care of the most vulnerable in our community. The least we could do was help feed them.
